Welcome to thefontpair. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of thefontpair.com and its features (the "Service"), operated by thefontpair ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Your account

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and be responsible for all activity under your account. You must verify your email address to access certain features such as saving items, uploading custom fonts, and subscribing. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the Service.

2. The Service

thefontpair lets you browse, preview, pair, and download fonts, and provides additional tools for subscribers. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription ("Pro"). We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

3. Fonts and licensing

The fonts available for download through the Service are, unless stated otherwise, open-source fonts (such as Google Fonts) provided under their own licenses (for example, the SIL Open Font License or Apache License). You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the license that applies to each font you download or use. We provide font files and pairing information as a convenience and make no warranty that any particular font is suitable for your intended use. We do not grant you any rights in the fonts beyond what each font's own license provides.

If you upload your own custom fonts, you represent that you have the right to use and upload them, and you remain responsible for your compliance with their licenses.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and renewals

  • Billing. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, as you select) through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise, and applicable taxes may be added.
  • Automatic renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal until you cancel.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, and it will not renew afterward.
  • No refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods, unused features, or downgrades. Canceling stops future charges but does not refund the current period.
  • Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If we do, the new price applies to your next renewal, and we will give you reasonable notice.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may retry the charge and may suspend or downgrade your access to paid features until payment succeeds.

5. Promotional codes

Promotional codes and discounts are subject to their own terms, may be limited in time or use, apply only as stated (for example, to a first payment only), and may be withdrawn at any time. They have no cash value and cannot be combined unless we say so.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any font license;
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape at scale, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Resell, redistribute, or misrepresent the Service or its font files as your own product;
  • Upload malicious files or content that infringes others' rights.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Intellectual property

The Service itself — including its design, branding, original content, and software — is owned by thefontpair and protected by applicable laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our branding or content except to use the Service as intended. (This does not affect the separate licenses that apply to the fonts themselves, as described in Section 3.)

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that font data will always be accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, thefontpair and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as licensing responsibility, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the business operating the Service, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.
